  • Looking for information regarding birth parents: Irene Ethel TURNER & Jack MORELY
  • Posted by Pat Gregory on September 13th 2003
  • My husband is looking for information on his birth Mother and Father, Irene Ethel TURNER and Jack MORLEY, last known address in August 1940 was Welsthorpe Road, Long Eaton, we are not sure if either are still alive ... but we were told that Irene married sometime in the 1950's and had more children, her married name not known. My husband also had a brother, born around 1936/37. We were told that Jack MORELY was in the Merchant Navy and was killed in WW11, but we are unsure if true. My children are keen to know their ancestry, and any information passed on to us will be treated confidentially, as we migrated to Australia in 1966. We would all love to hear from any descendants or any information regarding the history of my husbands birth parents or their respective families. Thank you, Pat Gregory

Amongst the entries there are the details regarding six adopted babies born in 1926. The records in the book give quite a lot of detail i.e. Mothers name, address, date of entry, time of birth, attending doctor, weight, cost, solicitors name and name of adoptee. I am happy to pass on the details of these adoptions to any interested party - but please do not ask if I have other records as I only have these few. The surnames below are of adopted babies born at the Sabathu Nursing Home: MARSHALL - COLLINS - FRAMPTON - HAWKEY & BARNES. For all enquiries and further information to do with these babies, please contact Steve Powell at the address given.

  • Female infant by surname of BELCHER & her Uncle GENERAL BROWN of Berkshire
  • Posted by Eileen Franchi on the 8th April 2002
  • I think this will be an impossibility, but I am looking for details of the adoption of an infant female, surname Belcher, by her Uncle General Browne around 1741 when her father died, most possibly in Berkshire but not necessarily. She was the sister of my 4x Gt Grandfather who himself was raised by an Uncle in Berkshire - not known if it is the same Uncle. No mention of their mother unfortunately so presume she had died. Any help with this problem gratefully received.  Eileen.
  • Birth Family: Olive HAYES
  • Child(ren)s name: Geoff ALCOCK formerly David HAYES
  • Posted by Geoff Alcock on the 12th Dec 2001
  • Olive Hayes was my birth mother when I was born David Hayes at Chesterfield hospital, Feb. 10, 1938. She lived at Abbeydale Rd. South, Dore, Sheffield until at least 1939. The address she gave on my birth certificate was The Crest, Donisthorpe, Burton on Trent rural District. I believe her mother's name was Ann, also living in Donisthorpe in 1938. I was adopted through a Nurse Wetter in Chesterfield and grew up in Derby. I would greatly appreciate any info. as I now reside in Arizona and it is difficult to search from here. Thank You, Geoff Alcock (David Hayes).
