Lincolnshire District Registrars

Currently (Aug 2005) Birth, Marriage & Death certificates are £7.00, from April 1st 2003 the price went up to £7-00. Some will ask for postage on top or that you send them a stamped self-addresed envelope. Obviously if the document is to be posted abroad they may require extra for postage but I do not know exactly what they charge for that service.

You should write, phone or fax them to ask before sending your certificate application. They may be able to take payment by credit card or they may ask that you go to your bank and get the bank to write a cheque out in Pounds Sterling. Most banks worldwide will do this.

District Registrars will not usually charge for looking for a certificate but will only search for 12 months or so either side of the date you give them. You must send them as much detail as possible, parents names, dates if known, or addresses, census info... anything which may help them when searching. Only send information you are certain of.

Please note: If phoning outside Great Britain. You will need to phone or fax using every number except the ones in brackets. People phoning from within the UK do not phone 44 but need to dial all other numbers including ones in brackets.

Lincolnshire have recently restructured their Registration Service & all applications for the county are now made to the same address. You need to contact the following address (sorry it seems they do not have email contact address).

Alternatively you can apply via the internet, from the GRO Online Registration Service ... but certificates can take many weeks to arrive (up to 12 wks) ... so if you need the certificate urgently, I'd advise you to apply locally instead, and to address given above.
