Timothy MANTLE of Butterley

The Leeds delegate lodged at his house a few nights before last Whitsunday & the next morning he put him on the road for Nottingham. [J.Cope]

Was at the meeting at the White Horse on Sunday the 8th of June. [A. Booth]

William MARRIOTT; at the Wire Mill

At his house either James Taylor & George Weightman demanded & took away a gun early on Monday night. [Joseph Wilkinson]

Thomas MASLAND of Wingfield

Was at Elijah Hall�s of South Wingfield Park on Monday evening June 9th about 11o�clock. [E. Hall]

Was at Mr. Isaac Walker�s & Mr. Henry Bestwick�s of Wingfield Park. [E. Hall]

Then at Samuel Hunts of the Lodge� and afterwards at Hepworth�s South Wingfield Park. [E. Hall]

Benjamin MASSEY of Wingfield: Weaver

Was at the meeting at the White Horse on Sunday June 8th. [A.Booth]

Carved poles for pikes past Joseph Wilkinson�s house. [J. Wilkinson]

Joseph Wilkinson saw him, Joseph Massey, James Taylor & the 2 Ludlam�s� on Monday evening June 9th making pikes at James Taylor�s home in Wingfield Park. [Joseph Wilkinson]

Daniel MASSEY of Wingfield: Weaver

On Monday night June 9th Mr. Samuel Fletcher of Pentrich Mill (who had been disturbed by insurgents at his own house) on going to Mr. Hepworth�s house found him sitting in a chair opposite the body of the dead (Mr. Hepworth�s servant man) said he had nothing to do with it, he was coming in his way from Crich. About 11 o�clock on the same evening he called at Henry Brown�s in Crich & asked him if he was going, & on Brown replying in the negative he said �They will be down upon you tomorrow & it will be worse for you�. [Henry Brown]

Joseph MASSEY

Joseph Wilkinson saw him , Benjamin Massey, James Taylor & young Isaac Ludlam go past his house at Wingfield Park each with 4 or 5 shafts for pikes on their shoulders,on Monday afternoon June 9th. [Joseph Wilkinson]

Joseph MATHER of Swanwick

Was with the mob at George Elliott�s of Swanwick and had a pike in his hand. [G. Elliott]

John McKESSWICK of Heanor: alias the Scotchman: FWK

Was at the meeting at the White Horse Pentrich on Sunday June the 8th having come from Heanor. [A. Booth]

Called on John Fletcher on Sunday morning June 8th & told him they (the insurgents) intended to liberate his Father, who was in Prison at Lenton on the following day. [J. Fletcher]

About noon on Sunday, was with John Fletcher, Lilly of Codnor & several others at the Widow Weightman�s. [J. Fletcher]

About 10 o�clock on Tuesday evening he met John Fletcher and told him Robert Bestwick & James Collier alias Vincent were gone that morning to Nottingham to know if they were ready. [J. Fletcher]

Proposed to go round to collect the Heanor People together & went to John Ellis� & Henry Clarke�s & invited them to go. [J. Fletcher]

Delivered a gun to Ned White to carry under his frock to Nottey Bridge Langley mill &c. to meet the rebels. [E. White]

Was one of the most active men at the meeting at Pentrich & held much conversation with the Nottingham Man about dividing the prosperity of opulent men and magistrates &c. [Joseph Fletcher]

Told John Fletcher there had been cannon cast at the Butterley Foundry but it was supposed to be broken. [Joseph Fletcher]

Called Andrew Palmer of Heanor up between 11 & 12 o�clock on Monday night, read a paper to him & enticed him to go with him, Mason, John Howett & a man called Charley. [Andrew Palmer]

Edward MOORE of Pentrich: Shoemaker

Was armed with a gun at Ripley about half past 7 o�clock on the Tuesday morning & Manchester off with several other persons in arms towards Nottingham as if they were following the rebels. [D.W. Strafford] [S. Blount] [J. Alkin] [G. Anthony] [W. Rawson]

A stone bottle and a powder horn both containg gunpowder & a great quantity of leaden balls were found upon him by the Magistrate and the Military. He stated that they were fighting for the rights of the Country. [Lancelot Rolleston Esquire] [Richard Sawyer]

On being delivered into custody of the Prison of Nottingham there was found upon his Person a powder horn and a stone bottle both containing Gunpowder. [Thomas Wright]

Isaac MOORE of Pentrich Lane: Stone Mason

Was apprehended on Tuesday morning near Eastwood by Robert Ramage Private 15th Hussars & Joseph Richards a Constable of Nottingham. [Ramage] [Richards]

John MOORE

He and his 2 sons Robert & Edward were at the meeting when the secret committee was appointed. [A. Booth]

He & one of his sons was at the meeting at the White Horse Pentrich on Sunday June 8th. [A. Booth]

Applied to John Cope of Butterley 7 or 8 months ago when he was at the Cock in Ripley, to become a member of the Hampden Club. [J. Cope] [G. Burrows]

About 3 weeks after he produced the assembly of the club, 3 sets of articles, containing the rules of the Derby, Nottingham & Leicester Hampden Clubs. [J. Cope] [G. Burrows]

Made a speech at the Ripley Hampden Club and appeared to act as Chairman of the club at all times. [G. Anthony]

Informed G. Burrows that William Smith the Ripley delegate had something to communicate to him relative to the secret committee. [G. Burrows]

Enquired of G. Burrows how it happened that he was not of the Secret committee in the Asherfield Barn meetings he having been in the Army. [George Burrows]

He generally read the writings of Mr. Cobbett & the Nottingham Review Newspapers to the members of the Ripley Hampden Club at their meetings. [G. Anthony] [Thomas Henser]

Went with George Burrows & William Smith to a meeting at Sutton�s Barn near Pentrich, about Whitsuntide last. [G. Burrows]

Thomas MOORE of Ripley

NELSON

Of Derby attended a meeting at William Weightman�s in Pentrich and left a parchment petition for signatures. [A. Booth]

About Christmas last was introduced by Robert Bestwick at a meeting of the Heanor Hampden Club held at Thomas Allen�s the Nags Head in Heanor. [John Fletcher]

At a meeting of the Heanor Hampden Club he declared the objects of the club to be for a change in the Government of the Country and if the petitions were not attended to, other means must be used as no good would be done till �Old Frank� (meaning Sir Francis Burdett) was made King. [John Fletcher]
