James SAINT of Ripley: FWK

Informed G. Burrows about 7 o�clock on morning evening June 9th that all the people were going to rise that same evening. [G. Burrows]

He with several others in Ripley assembled at half past 7 o�clock on Tuesday morning June 10th brought a gun from his own house & appeared to be following the rebels for Nottingham. [T.Cresswell] [D.W. Strafford] [S. Blount] [W. Rawson]

Passed by the sign of the Glass house in Codnor about half past 8 o�clock with the party from Ripley armed with a gun. [Joseph Thorpe]

Joseph SAVAGE of Butterley

Edward Turner and the Alfreton Tailor compelled him & Joseph Onion to join them at Butterley. [C. Walters]

Took a pistol with him and afterwards appeared active in keeping the men together. [C. Walters] [W. Young] [Thomas Hardy]

He, Edward Moore & George Jepson were apprehended at Eastwood on Tuesday morning June 10th he had a gun which he refused to give up to Richard Sawyer who told him to give up the gun to him or he would chop him down  he said he would stand in his own defence and was going to present the gun, which upon Sawyer immediately seized it and took it from Savage and found it to be cocked and contained 2 balls with powder. John SELLARS of Pentrich: FWK

Was with the mob at Pentrich & carried a hay fork. [H. Hole]

Samuel SELLARS of Alfreton

At the first meeting at Asherfield Barn. [A Booth]

George Weightman & several others went to his house on the Monday evening & obliged him to join them. [Joseph Wilkinson]

Fetched Joseph Wilkinson from home. [Wilkinson]

Luke SHIPMAN of Ilkeston

On Monday the 9th June he returned from Nottingham & Told J. Graham of Ilkeston, that the Revolution would take place at Nottingham that night at 9 o�clock that the rising was to be general throughout England & he was to take his men from Ilkeston to Nottingham by 11. [J. Graham]

William SMITH

Was with the mob in their march from Ripley towards Nottingham & had a stick. [Joseph Slack] [John Atkins]

Carried bullets in a wallet on his shoulder & Thomas Hardy heard him say he wished some of his friends from Sutton in Ashfield were with them. [Thomas Hardy]

William SMITH of Ripley

Delegate with the petition from the Ripley Hampden club. [J. Cope] [Isaac Ludlam Jnr]

Was at the 1st meeting at Sutton�s Asherfield Barn. [A. Booth]

Was appointed secret committee man with Burrows for Ripley. [A. Booth]

Took an active part in debates of the meetings. [G. Burrows] [J. Cope]

Proposed to ascertain the number of arms in each place & from whence ammunition might be taken. [A. Booth]

Was at the 5th Asherfield barn meeting on or about the 31st May. [A.Booth]

Was at the meeting at the White Horse on Sunday 8th June. [A. Booth]

Explained to George Burrows the object of the London secret committee. [G. Burrows]

Was at a meeting at Ensors, a private house in Ripley. [G. Burrows]

Informed Burrows that there would be a meeting near Pentrich either on the Wednesday or Thursday in Whitsun week and a committee formed. [G. Burrows]

Did not like the appearance of the Nottingham Man. [G. Burrows]

Sent Ned Moore to Nottingham with a note directed to Mr Wm. Waine. [G. Burrows]

That Ned Moore had brought word from Nottingham that all was right. [G. Burrows]

Commanded the second party from Ripley. [G. Burrows]

Pressed upon G. Burrows to be a committee man for Ripley, but Burrows refusing, he accepted of the appointment. [G. Burrows] [Thomas Hensor Jnr.]

Anthony STANLEY of Pentrich: Miller

Had 2 guns taken from his house between 7 & 8 o�clock on Tuesday morning June 10th by Wm. Halton, Wm Blount & other parties who were following the rebels voluntarily from Ripley towards Nottingham. [Stanley]

John STANLEY of Pentrich: Miller

On Tuesday morning June 10th several of the gang visited: John Moore, Wm Alton, Wm Blount, Joseph Harris, George Alton & Isaac Gregory called at his house on their march towards Nottingham & demanded & took away 2 of his guns. [Joseph Slack]

Thomas STAPLETON (alias TAPLETON) of Heage: Weaver

Was appointed secret committee man for Heage. [A. Booth] [J. Cope]

Was at the 5th meeting at Asherfield Barn. [A. Booth]

Came to the body of men while at Pentrich as a messenger from other assembled at Heage & told George Weightman there were 2 barrels of gunpowder in Mr. Harveys warehouse at Heage & they had not strength to get it out. [Shipman]

Thomas STEER of Alfreton

Paid money on Whitsunday last towards a collection for Thomas Bacon�s use. [A.Booth]

??? STEVENS of Nottingham

Supposed to be President of the Secret Committee of Nottingham Hampden Clubs  about a month or five weeks before Whitsunday last Thomas Bacon received a letter from him relative to a meeting at Ilkeston. [A. Booth]

John STORER of Pentrich: Farmer

Was among the insurgents with a gun. [Isaac Ludlam Jnr.]

Samuel SUTTON

Meetings began to be held about 5 weeks ago at his Asherfield Barn, when plans were discussed for organizing men to be raised to join Nottingham in the intended insurrection. [A. Booth]

After the 1st or 2nd meeting there it was agreed that a committee should be formed of men who had been in the army. [A. Booth]

George Weightman gave notice of the 1st meeting there. [A. Booth]

Another meeting held about a week after the 1st when the making of pikes procuring the firearms & ammunition was talked of. [A. Booth]

At the 3rd meeting a secret committee appointed. [A. Booth]

At the 4th meeting but little done. [A. Booth]

The 5th meeting held in his barn about the 31st May. [A. Booth]

The 6th meeting held on 5th June. [A. Booth]

Is a Quaker & did not attend the Asherfield Barn meetings but has attended those at the White Horse in Pentrich & his principles supposed to be favourable to the views of the Insurgents. [A. Booth]

Charles SWAINE

Was at the place of meeting about 11 o�clock on Monday night. [Isaac Ludlam Jnr]

Was apprehended on Tuesday morning near Eastwood by James Wood  a Private in the 15th Regimet of Hussars. [J. Wood]
